empress

too often in our society, asian women are depicted as small. submissive. insignificant. one of my personal missions is to seize that stereotype and smash it into a thousand little pieces. it's about time that we show up, loud and proud, with our passionate, bold, and unapologetic selves. to me, that was what this "empress" shoot was all about. one of my super talented college friends, faith, met up with me on a rainy wednesday afternoon and shot these in the studio room on our campus. we blasted rina sawayama while pushing our creative limits together, challenging ourselves with dynamic posing, unique angles, and such. it was such an honor to work alongside another asian woman to create this series.

here's to all of the fierce empresses within us — may we let them shine, unapologetically.
